USA-Africa: Kenyatta is first African leader to speak with Biden
The White House announced that Joe Biden, as President, had had his first telephone conversation with an African leader in the person of Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya. Their discussions focused on bilateral cooperation on counter-terrorism and regional diplomacy issues. The other salient issue was the discussions around the crisis in the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia, where the government led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, known as “Abiy Ahmed” is fighting the former TPLF government.
