African Union: Al-Sissi, new AU President, calls for inter-African solidarity

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi took the rotating presidency of the African Union (AU) following the opening ceremony of the 32nd Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly on February 10TH  in Addis Ababa.

Listening to Africa’s priorities – education, health, gender equality, climate change, and forced displacement, the theme of the AU this year – al-Sisi called on African countries to work in solidarity to meet these challenges and achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Al-Sissi succeeds Rwandan Paul Kagame.
