Tunisia Huawei pledges to promote digital economy

Tunis, April 8, 2019 – Huawei and Tunisia have agreed to strengthen their cooperation on the promotion of talent in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT), the development of the digital economy and public security . Mr. Xue Man, Huawei Vice President of Public Relations, met with Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi for an exchange of views on ways to better promote the digital transformation of Tunisian industry. On July 31, 2018, Huawei met with the Tunisian Prime Minister, which made it possible to deepen cooperation in the digital economy and in promoting local talent in the ICT sector.

Tunisia aims to promote social and economic development and employment through the development of ICT and aims to become a model regional center for digitization and incubator of talent in ICT.

Huawei has been present in Tunisia since 1999 and this year marks its 20th anniversary. Over the years, Huawei has trained more than 1,000 ICT professionals in Tunisia. The proportion of local employees in Huawei Tunisia is over 90%. Huawei has established a regional francophone talent center and a regional resource center in Tunisia.
