South Sudan: Faced with the risk of famine, the UN launches a $1.7 billion humanitarian plan

As hunger continues to worsen in South Sudan due to a combination of violence, climate change and Covid-19, the 2021 humanitarian response plan for the country was launched on Tuesday. It aims to provide 6.6 million people – including 350,000 refugees – with life-saving assistance and protection.
