Nigeria $ 1.2 billion economy in producing its milk

Abubakar Bello, governor of the state of Niger, and Roel van Neerbos, president of the Dutch dairy FrieslandCampina, have signed a protocol of agreement on milk production in Abudja on 26 November, said a statement from FieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria, a subsidiary of the Dutch company, according to information published by Commodafrica. The signing is made in the context of a reaffirmation of commitments between President Muhammadu Buhari and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, in favor of improving bilateral relations between the two countries and direct investments. Thus, it is expected that 10,000 hectares of land in the Bobi pasture reserve will be used by the Dutch company to replicate and develop milk production on the reserve. As a result, the development of the Nigerian dairy sector would save the country $ 1.2 billion in milk imports.
