Morocco 40 new routes by this summer
Eight airlines will launch according to the authorities 40 new routes to and from Morocco this summer, strengthening the country’s position on the tourist map, according to information relayed by Air Journal.
According to the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), the eight carriers in question are the low cost Air Arabia Morocco, easyJet, Ryanair, Transavia, Volotea and Vueling, as well as Condor and Turkish Airlines; the 85 additional weekly frequencies of summer 2019 represent a total of 456,686 seats.
“This is good news that shows the attractiveness of the destination Morocco in its main issuing markets (France, Spain and Germany), but also in Turkey, Italy and many other European countries,” said the ONMT. Greece, Belgium, Austria, Hungary and Portugal will see the number of routes and frequencies to Morocco increase.
The programming of these 40 new services will promote tourism activity in all regions of Morocco. With 19 new lines, the airport of Marrakech-Menara is the first concerned, far ahead of Tangier (6), Fez (5) and Tetouan, Agadir, Ouarzazate, Dakhla or Essaouira – where Ryanair will replace TUI Fly Belgium from Belgium .
Recall that the Irish low cost has already announced its intention to strengthen Morocco next winter with for example a Bergamo – Agadir, as Aegean Airlines from Greece.
The ONMT reminds that Morocco welcomed last year 12.3 million tourists, 2.4 million for Marrakech alone from January to November 2018.
