Kenya Tea revenues reach US$1.09 billion in 2020

Kenya earned 120 billion shillings (US$1.09 billion) from tea exports in 2020 compared to US$1.06 billion in 2019, according to a new report by the Tea Board released on Tuesday.

The increased income has withstood the challenges to international trade posed by the VIDC-19 pandemic, which has reduced the movement of goods and people.

The rise in revenue was supported by an increase in export volumes, which reached 518,900 tonnes in 2020, against 496,600 tonnes in 2019.
