Visa openness index 2020: Benin, Seychelles and Gambia lead
In 2020, the best performing countries in terms of visa opening are among the most attractive countries in terms of foreign direct investment and benefit from a high growth rate, including in the tourism sector. With their visa waiver policy for all African visitors, Benin, Seychelles and The Gambia remain the top three countries in Africa for visa opening. The Africa Visa Openness Index measures the degree to which countries on the continent are open to the issuance of visas, examining the eligibility requirements they require from citizens of other African countries. The Index tracks the performance of these states over time to show which states are making improvements contributing to the free movement of people across Africa.
