Mauritius: UN Maritime Law Tribunal pleads freedom of Chagos Islands

Will the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean be returned by the United Kingdom to Mauritius? Either way, displaced people from the Chagos Islands living in Seychelles are jubilant after the United Nations Maritime Law Tribunal upheld their aspirations to reclaim their land. Indeed, this court declared that Great Britain no longer has any sovereignty over these islands and must include the self-determination of the Chagossians, under the Mauritian flag, in the transfer document. Pierre Prosper, chairman of the Chagossians committee, confided it to colleagues.
