Gabon: IMF is interested in tourism development

The resident representative of the financial institution in the country, Marcos Poplawski-Ribeiro, met the General Director of the Gabonese Agency for the Development and Promotion of Tourism and Hospitality (Agatour) Karine Arissani. Gabon is working on the development of the tourism sector through the establishment of a statistical file on tourism in Gabonese territory to facilitate the granting of visas, the revision of the various conventions in the transport sector, the liberalization of the Gabonese sky, etc.

According to 2017 statistics, the Gabonese tourism industry represents less than 3% of gross domestic product and employs nearly 11,000 people. The number of tourist arrivals in the country is estimated at more than 200 000 but with 60000 internationals.
