Francophonie: the 18th Summit postponed to allow Tunisia to organize it “in the most optimal conditions
Representatives of member states and governments of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) met in person and videoconference on October 12, 2020 under the chairmanship of the Secretary General of La Francophonie, Louise Mushikiwabo.
The representatives of member states and governments have discussed openly and in a concern for cohesion and solidarity, on the organization of the Summit in Tunisia within the time frame initially planned. They reached a consensus on the need to postpone the 18th Summit of the Francophonie by one year, in order to allow Tunisia to organize this important event in the most optimal conditions.
In order to quickly validate this proposal, the members of the Permanent Council of La Francophonie recommend holding, as soon as possible, an extraordinary session of the Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie.
