227 applications received, ten start-up finalists at the end of the BootCamp des deux rives, and five of them awarded by Emerging Mediterranean, Monday, December 14, 2020 in Marseille. Honored during this first Digital Summit dedicated to the Tech for Good (innovations with a positive impact on society) in the Mediterranean, these companies each receive a €7,000 seed grant.
Led by the Moroccan Aida Kandil, MyTindy is a marketplace for African crafts. It offers Moroccan craftsmen (with an extension planned in the Maghreb) a solution and support to sell their products online and develop their business.
Based in Algeria and created by Mourad Mohammed Benosman, Ysa Med Tech specializes in the treatment of chronic pain and stress such as sciatica, lumbago, ankylosing spondylitis, arthritis or osteoarthritis. The e-health start-up is developing two devices that use pulsed light technology to measure and relieve pain levels.
Launched by Olfa Kilani in Tunisia, the agri-tech company Kyto-Prod offers a wide range of products and superfoods based on chitosan. This natural molecule has various uses in the cosmetics, textile, food and paramedical industries.
In Libya, Ahmed Khaled Elfaituri’s Speetar telemedicine platform connects (website and application) doctors in the diaspora with Libyan patients who have medical needs. It is based on an “all-in-one” model combining a digital health record, online appointment booking and teleconsultation.
With Daadoo VDP the Mauritanian Aminetou Sy promotes climate resilience through the reuse of plastic waste in bricks and paving stones. These building materials protect from salt and humidity, which ensures better resistance in flood-prone areas.
These five winners will join the Social & Inclusive Business Camp’s high value-added acceleration program in January 2021. They will also benefit from high visibility, with their attendance being taken care of, at the next annual Emerging Valley Summit, which is scheduled to take place in Marseilles in April 2021.
Emerging Méditerranée was created to identify, accelerate and publicize the Tech For Good technology nuggets in the Mediterranean, in order to multiply their impact, highlight these models of success and, ultimately, contribute to the resilience of their companies. This summit, born out of the work carried out during the preparatory forums for the Summit of the Two Shores and supported by the French Development Agency (AFD), is led by Samir Abdelkrim, as Emerging Valley.
