Diaspora Main source of funding for the continent in 2019 (World Bank)

Diaspora remittances to countries in sub-Saharan Africa are expected to reach $ 49 billion in 2019, according to a note from the World Bank (WB). Flows up 50% since 2010. Not to mention informal transfers, by definition more difficult to measure, but which could represent between 35% and 75% of recorded flows. According to Dilip Ratha, the author of this report, “remittances are fast becoming the main source of external financing for developing countries”.
