Burkina Faso Inauguration of a giant statue in tribute to Thomas Sankara

Hundreds of people, including Burkinabe President Roch Marc Chritian Kaboré and John Jerry Rawlings, former Ghanaian President attended the inauguration ceremony of the giant statue on March 2nd  in Ouagadougou, in honor of the memory of Captain Thomas Sankara, father of the Burkinabe revolution, killed with 12 of his companions on October 15, 1987 in a coup that had brought his brother in arms, Blaise Compaoré to power.

The bronze statue, 8 m high, of the Burkinabe sculptor Jean Luc Bambara, located in the Council of the Entente, where T. Sankara was assassinated with 12 of his companions, is the work of the International Committee Thomas Sankara Memorial (CIM-TS).
