Algeria Lower imports in the first half

Algeria’s food import bill fell by more than $ 480 million, or 10.52%, in the first half of 2019, the Algerian Customs Directorate General (DGD) announced. In the figures, the food import bill reached nearly $ 4.13 billion during the first half of 2019, compared to just over $ 4.6 billion during the same period in 2018, a fall of nearly of $ 485.3 million (-10.52%), says the Department of Customs Studies and Prospects (DEPD). This decline is mainly due to a decrease in imports of cereals, milk and milk products, sugars, residues and waste from the food industry, etc.
