Francophonie: Franco-Moroccan Leïla Slimani representing Macron

Leïla Slimani, Franco-Moroccan writer, laureate of the Goncourt prize last year, was named Emmanuel Macron’s personal representative for the Francophonie. According to an official statement from the Elysee, “The President of the Republic wishes to carry an ambitious policy to promote the Francophonie”.

In her role, Ms. Slimani will raise the profile and promotion of the French language and multilingualism, as well as the values shared by members of La Francophonie.

It will represent an open Francophone policy, in action, focused on concrete projects related to the priorities of the President of the Republic such as education, culture, gender equality, professional integration and youth mobility, fight against climate change and digital development “.
